Diversity day is a day that celebrated at Dirigo High School on January 26th. It celebrates diversity of different people, races, nationalities, etc.In our school, although we are all different, we're equal, we are all human.
The first person that talked in the gym at school was the mayor of Lewiston was Mr. Jankins. It appeared to me that the form of opening the day was good, he touched on different points of the theme, he had my attention and i found it funny. The students pertisapated in games.
My first session was "Beyond Tolerance" by Mr. Abdula Ali, he talked about the Islamic religion, and how it effected him and his life. In his speak I learned alot about his religion, its functions, and what he believes,culture, and form of prayer. The speach was good and the presentor was good also.
My second and fifth period was about me "Growing Up in Venezula". My home country. I talked about important facts without lying. I talked about the day by day, good and bad. I liked to have talked so people could learn a little bit about Venezuela. I got to see the trama on the students faces when i talked about the bad of Venezuela. we are different in what we worry about, and are priorities and fears. A fear is if we can arrive in time to save our house in time. I liked to talk about my life and country to people.
My last period was Young talking about Korea. He talked about his education, social life and compared it to Venezuela. The session was intresting and i liked hearing it.
The last assembly was someone from Sudan talking about his country, he talked about the problems and how the nation was suffering. It was hard to understand what he was saying, but the students participated and danced.
